- Venue: Metro Hall; 55 John Street, Toronto, Ontario M5V 3C6
MCASS is honoured and delighted to have been invited by StepStones for Youth and Delta Family Resource Centre to participate in the Resource Fair on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 12 Noon – 8pm at Metro Hall; 55 John Street, Toronto, Ontario M5V 3C6
StepStones for Youth, in collaboration with Delta Family Resource Centre, will be hosting Atlas: Your Guide to Navigating the Child Welfare System; a community resource fair. Atlas will provide an opportunity for foster, kinship, youth transitioning out of care and biological families to gain knowledge of and access to local community resources explicitly supporting children and youth in and from care. Those with child welfare involvement deserve to understand their rights, responsibilities, and resources within the community to strengthen their confidence, while navigating a system that has long-lasting impacts.
We look forward to seeing you there! Please feel free to share widely.
Here are some further details re: what to expect at the Resource Fair:
Various organizations across Toronto that specialize in supporting those involved with child welfare will be present to share their programs, services and available resources. We encourage everyone to come out, ask questions and engage with the community who may share similar lived experiences. Everyone will enjoy their time eating lunch, listening to our DJ, taking pictures at our photo booth and enjoying the variety of games and activities at each table.
Grocery gift cards, lunch, swag bags and TTC tickets will all be provided to registered participants. We hope your attendance strengthens your confidence in advocating for yourself and your family while connecting you to various supports across the city. Additionally, we hope that as an agency, you also learn more about the available resources for your clients. The organizations in attendance are coming together to support everyone involved in child welfare and we look forward to meeting everyone for a day filled with networking, fun and empowerment.
In connection with its name, Atlas will be the first of many community forums across the G.T.A. and surrounding cities, bringing together local agencies that provide specialized support and resources for children and youth in and from care who’re also located in Durham, York, Peel, Kawartha, etc.
