Samina Idrees is a motivated and experienced researcher with a passion for serving vulnerable and disadvantaged communities. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University and hopes to use the skills she’s gained to bring much needed attention to the ongoing disparities present within child welfare systems in the GTA.
Samina has devoted countless hours to helping support individuals from underserved backgrounds, including those struck with poverty, refugees and victims of family violence. She is especially passionate about the mentorship and well-being of children.
Serving as the Research and Programs Coordinator at MCASS, she leads projects aimed at characterizing the unique needs and challenges faced by Muslim children in foster care within the GTA. She hopes to bring awareness to issues that have long been overlooked, with the larger goal of addressing these problems through the development of appropriate programs and policy changes.
