Noor Jabbar

Noor Jabbar is a passionate advocate for mental health and social support, with extensive experience in various community-focused roles. As a current Bachelor of Social Work student, Noor is dedicated to supporting marginalized communities, particularly within the Muslim population and other vulnerable groups. Known for her kindness and care, Noor is deeply committed to uplifting these communities.

With extensive experience as a dedicated peer counsellor for a helpline supporting Muslim women in North America, Noor provides culturally sensitive and faith-based care. In addition to peer counseling, Noor’s commitment to mental health advocacy is evident through her work with another helpline supporting individuals with mood disorders and facilitating a BIPOC support group for mental health. These roles involve providing empathetic responses, facilitating connections to support groups and resources, and managing diverse needs with empathy and care. Her experience also includes running programs at a summer camp for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, ADHD, and Epilepsy as well as raising awareness for girls’ educational rights in India.

Noor has also completed a university field placement to support teen mothers, managing administrative tasks, engaging in program development, and providing direct support and counseling. She has conducted advocacy presentations and research on mental health through volunteer work and academic programs, specifically addressing mental health care disparities for Muslims and BIPOC individuals. Her research includes addressing the intersections of racism, mental health-related disabilities, and Islamophobia. Noor aims to continue her education by pursuing a Master’s of Social Work to further support vulnerable populations.

As a Child and Family Counsellor at Muslim Children’s Aid and Support Services (MCASS), Noor brings a deep commitment to developing and implementing supportive strategies. In this role, she will work closely with children and their families, providing counseling and support services tailored to their unique needs.
