4th Year Social Work at TMU

Hasna Oubaggi

Hello, peace and blessings be upon you!

My name is Hasna. I am delighted to be part of the MCASS as a social worker and a case manager. I am currently pursuing the fourth year of my bachelor’s degree in social work with a minor in psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University. Throughout my studies, I have learned the importance of viewing social issues from a critical and anti-oppressive lens to understand the different impacts of social injustices on individuals based on their social location and intersectionality, such as race, sex and religion.

As an immigrant racialized Muslim woman, I know the struggle of integrating and settling in a foreign country. In addition, I deeply understand the impact of islamophobia and misrepresentation on Muslim communities and children.

Therefore, based on my lived experience, professional practice, trilingual fluency and academic studies, I aspire to help individuals empower and support themselves by respecting their right to self-determination and working hand in hand to dismantle the social barriers imposed on them through advocacy and access to the right resources.
