Community Recreational and Leisure Programs Consultant

Farkhunda Muhtaj

We are delighted to have Farkhunda Muhtaj with us again this summer. Farkhunda will be serving in the role of Community Recreational and Leisure Programs Consultant, leading our Scarborough Simbas signature program.

Farkhunda is a very passionate individual who is dedicated to providing equitable academic and athletic opportunities for youth to excel. She has a great background in community based non-profit work as well as working with diverse Muslim communities in the GTA. Farkhunda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences and a Bachelor of Education degree from York University.

Farkhunda possesses great experience in the development and delivery of sport and recreation programming. She has a passion for working with marginalized, underprivileged, and refugee and newcomer communities. She uses sport as a tool to empower and build critical life skills.

Farkhunda captained the varsity women’s soccer team at York University and competes on the Afghanistan women’s national soccer team.
