Centennial College Social Service Worker Program
Akhtar Alam is a student at Centennial College, studying to become a Social Service Worker. He is originally from Pakistan and migrated to Canada with his family a few years ago. He is fluent in English, Urdu, Pashto, Hindi and Punjabi and will continue to challenge himself to learn new cultures and languages. He have a lot of hobbies but as a South Asian, the one he enjoys the most is playing cricket because it is a popular sport on our continent. Akhtar is a person who holds his beliefs close to him and takes pride in working to the best of his ability, not only in professional settings but also with his family and friends.
Akhtar has decided to become a Social Service Worker because his ambition is to work with children and families. He hopes the professional training and expertise provided by the course will support him in helping vulnerable people cope with challenges. Akhtar also wants to become a Social Service Worker to assist people in realizing their potential. It is a part of his nature to care for others and help them with reaching their goals.
Akhtar believes that entering the social work field would be the perfect way to turn his passion into a career. Being a Social Service Worker is a unique and rewarding career choice that will give him a perfect opportunity to make a difference in his community. He also believes that one of the most rewarding parts of this career is making an impact in one’s life. Even though being a Social Service Worker can be rewarding, it can also be challenging at this time. These challenges will allow him to expand his problem-solving skills and to continually grow professionally and personally.
