Senior Program Coordinator - Mental Health Initiatives

Abeer Ansari

Abeer Ansari is a passionate mental health advocate and has a diverse experience working in mental health organizations. She recently completed her Honors Bachelors of Science in Psychology at the University of Toronto.

Abeer is committed to supporting marginalized communities, such as newcomers, refugees and underprivileged youth, to navigate the mental health system. She has over three years of experience volunteering at various helplines as a peer counselor and as a peer supporter — this has allowed her to gain first hand experience of the immediate mental health needs in the community. Abeer has also served as a mental health speaker and advisor for various organizations and this experience has allowed her to advocate for mental health education and promotion at various levels.

Her favorite quote that ties into mental health advocacy is — “There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they’re falling in.”

At MCASS, as a senior program coordinator for mental health initiatives, Abeer will be responsible for developing and implementing a mental health strategy and enhancing our partnerships with different experts in the field in the hopes of strengthening our mental health education and intervention process at MCASS.
